J'adore Jenny Kee. I interviewed her when she'd just published her autobiography, A Big Life (Penguin) and stayed all day. Jenny is full of wit and wisdom, and wonderful stories about hanging out with fashion's great and good. No, scratch that. About being one of fashion's great and good. Her prints have been used by Lagerfeld at Chanel and her designs, many of them designed in cahoots with the fascinating Linda Jackson, helped shape the Aussie fashion landscape. Jenny is AMAZING. V-8 ACTION & ICY INSPIRATION

My brother in law's sensational birthday dinner the other day was finished off with the vanilla V-8 cake from Adriano Zumbo. This cult confection was ordered by my BIL's delightful girlfriend, Khemeny. Talk about devotion. We're talking 8 sugar-loaded layers (and yes, I cribbed this off Zumbo's website) of Vanilla Crème Chantilly, Toasted Vanilla Brûlee, Vanilla Water Gel, Vanilla Ganache, Brown Sugar Crumble, Vanilla Macaron, Vanilla Dacquoise, Vanilla Chiffon Cake and Vanilla Almond Crunch, and, assembled, it kind of looked like the Alexander McQueen A/W '11/'12 collection. Plus it was almost as hard to get hold off - the V8 is only available during certain weeks of the year, and there's a crazy wait-list. Trust me to see fashion in a bloody cake...

ZANITA, WOW

Wondrous snapper Zanita borrowed a Mrs. Press vintage beaded number to photograph fellow model blogger Anina. The dress belonged to a nightclub singer in Hong Kong in the 1940s, but it's styled so 30s - the dealer I bought of from told me that was because the city was a few years behind Paris at the time, lucky for said singer, I say; the dress is so beautiful it makes my brain hurt. This is the result.

CARNIVALE

You know what I love? I love it when the leaves turn brown. And I love it when you can wear a camel cashmere cape and a leopard print trilby and dash off to the Autumn Racing Carnival looking ze knees of ze bee. Bring it on!

Oh I do hope Kate Middleton proves the rumour mongers right and trots down the aisle in Alexander McQueen. You've got to love the Daily Tele reporting today that McQueen's designer Sarah Burton eschews the spotlight in her private sphere, preferring to "stay at home working on her needlepoint" than swan about at celebrity parties. Did you see her wearing those old jeans and down-at-heel hush puppies on her runway last week? She can wear what she likes really, can't she? Because she is very clever indeed.
