SHOW REVIEW: CAMILLA

There were owls and llamas (yep, real ones), giant tee-pees and teams of perfect gypsy-chic children playing on hand-knotted rugs inspired by Marrakech – and that was just outside Camilla’s extravagant S/S’13 collection show, titled “Pachamama” and staged in Sydney’s Centennial Parklands. Designer Camilla Franks has built an empire on her very specific luxe hippie aesthetic, and it’s working for her. There’s way more than beach cover-ups to this label, which next season will spin with South America-inspired printed silks and lavish embroidered cottons, splashed across ruffled mini dresses, billowing skirts, embellished robes and harem pants. The show closed with stunning model (and daughter-of-Mick), Georgia May Jagger flaunting her haute-hippie pedigree in an embellished bikini and matching jacket. It’s caftans, but not as we know them.
